I missed this. Of course its a no spin if the ball is
going the same direction as the wheel.
So if it bounces off the frets and starts going the same way as the wheel its a no spin? It wasn't that the dealer threw it the wrong direction, it bounced and rebounded

That's not what you said. You said it was still in the
track going around, that it hadn't fallen yet. If it
was going the same way as the wheel in the track,
of course it doesn't count.

Roulette Betting Strategy
I apologize for any miscommunication, but yeah the ball was started going clockwise, with the wheel going counterclockwise. The ball bounced off of a fret after making 10-15 revolutions in the track, and then started going counterclockwise with the wheel.

As a roulette dealer among other games I will give you what I know. My experience is mainly midwest USA and Las vegas. The ball must go three times before the dealer calls No more bets, it must go three more times after that. As far as no spin is concerned it is and to my knowledge up to the dealer. For instance, I have literally dropped the ball due to error while attempting to spin and quickly called no spin. There is no logistic to it other than the dealer felt that it was not a legitimate spin to begin with. Now that being said another rule would be while the ball is landing, if it continues to spin around a certain area of numbers more than three times without falling into said fret. We're expected to call no spin and repeat.
It's all procedure my friend and nothing a dealer did or does is going to harm your said odds or chance of winning.
And please if youre the guy who tries to chunk a number after no more bets, be nice to your roulette dealers man.

Colorado Roulette Procedures (Rule 22):
47.1-2205 Rotation of wheel and ball.
(1) The roulette ball shall be spun by the dealer in a direction opposite to the rotation of the wheel
and shall complete at least four (4) revolutions around the track of the wheel to constitute a valid
spin.
Also:
47.1-2206 Irregularities.
(1) If the ball is spun in the same direction as
the wheel, the dealer shall state “no spin” and shall
attempt to remove the roulette ball from the wheel prior to its coming to rest in one of the
compartments.
(2) If the roulette ball does not complete four revolutions around the track of the wheel, the dealer shall announce “no spin” and shall attempt to remove the ball from the wheel prior to its coming to rest in one of the compartments.
(3) If a foreign object enters the wheel prior to the ball coming to rest, the dealer shall state “no spin” and shall attempt to remove the ball from the wheel prior to its coming to rest in one of the compartments.
(4) If the ball leaves the wheel prior to the ball coming to rest, the dealer shall announce “no spin”. The ball shall be recovered and inspected by the pit supervisor for any damage or tampering before being placed back into the wheel.
I can also say that many casinos have a 'house rule' that allows the dealer to call no spin for a 'floater'; meaning the ball is not making any meaningful process to drop in a slot.

I don't know 100% that it was going to drop into the 1, but at the point where he actually grabbed the ball, it was right at the 1, and was right at the top of the 'compartment'. Like I said, doesn't matter now, but definitely gave me a bad taste in my mouth about that dealer at the least.

I can only give you my experience as a UK casino dealer but I would say that we can call a No-Spin whenever we want. The basics are as follows:
The ball must complete 3 revolutions around the bowl.
The ball must be spun in the opposite direction to the wheel.
If something goes into the wheel then it's a No-Spin (but even then I've seen the winning number stand since the ball was on it's last legs and a chip went in)
Other ones include:
Customers calling no spin because the ball wasn't spun 'from the number' (high end clients)
I've called no spin when I was inspecting because we had such a volume of call bets called at the same time that it was impossible, so I grabbed the ball and informed the customers that if they didn't call them one after another I wouldn't allow the bets. But then they were trying to cheat by overwhelming the dealer.
I've also done it because a customer was swearing and being rude and so I stopped the game and we invited him leave.
Like I say, we can call it for almost any reason. Our job is to ensure the integrity of the game, and sometimes, pander to customers oddities. But then if a customer complains, we must have a good reason for doing it or face management, we can't just do it because we wanted a 30 second break!
